2017 Concord Cold Weather Shelter Update (Dec 2016)

Thank you very much for supporting the efforts to get the 2017 Concord Cold Weather Shelter up and running. The volunteer response has been nothing less than amazing and the use of the online signup has been an incredible asset to scheduling coverage as quickly as possible.

Although we are still getting things organized on site, we are now confident that we can open at 7 pm on January 2, 2017. The last night of operation will be March 31st with the actual closing on the morning of April 1st. The following staff are working hard to make sure that this happens:

-  Arolyn Chappell (doubles as the Friends Emergency Housing Program Director) will serve as Shelter Manager again this year.
-  Terry Blake will serve as Volunteer Coordinator. Terry has shelter volunteer experience having previously served in a similar capacity at First Church for number of years. FYI she is in the process of compiling the on-call list.
-  The Winter Shelter Overnight Managers (Vinnie Haney, Jake King, Alex Cooper and Jack Eberth) are all in place.

82% of the shifts have been filled (727 out of 892), however there are still some spots open, especially in February and March.  You can sign-up to volunteer here http://signup.com/go/fQGoxd

Thank you all again. Over the next few months I am hope that I can thank you all in person.

Regards,

Jerry Madden

Friends Program Executive Director
